Religion and schools don't mix
Bjorn, of ABBA fame, thinks that Sweden has it bad with religious schools. He should visit Oz.
The Australian Federal Government is in the process of handing out AUD$2.6 billion to Australia’s religious schools. What many Australian’s don’t realise is that most of these schools, because of their religious status, as exempt from many state and federal anti-discrimination laws, so they can refuse to take in students, or hire teachers based on their religion, sexual orientation or just about anything else.
Some how having these institutions which suck money and talent out of the public education system and flaunt the laws of the land is supposed to make for a better country. I just don’t see how dividing your country into us, them, them and them is helpful.
