Don't call Blair "a nutter"
The British ex-PM Tony Blair recently converted to Catholicism. He said that while in office that he didn’t talk about his religious beliefs as he didn’t want to be labelled “a nutter”. The Brits unlike their American counterparts don’t like being led by “a nutter”, they probably think having a Royal Family is bad enough.
In another article he implied that being religious, especially non-Anglican, was a liability in British Politics. Blair may have taken his lead from one of Britain’s most successful Prime Ministers Benjamin D’Israeli, who while born to Jewish parents was baptised in the Anglican Church. D’Israeli followed the Christian church but saw himself as an ethically Jewish.
Blair is best known for his role, along with his religious mates G. W. Bush and John W. Howard, in sending a Christian crusade into the Middle East to “liberate” the Iraqi people.
