What’s wrong with education in Australia?
Well the funding system for a start! 70% of students attend secular Public schools in Australia but 70% of the Federal funding goes to religious based private schools; and the lion’s share to the most wealthy ones at that.
Ross Gittins of the Sydney Morning Herald describes it as “More privilege for the privileged”. While Catherine Deveny down at the Melbourne Age tells people “if you want private education for your kids, pay for it yourself”.
The really bad news is that neither the current Australian Federal Government or the Opposition have any plans to change the current allocation of education funding.
