John Howard fans get investigated by Police.
The Exclusive Brethren is a religious cult which doesn’t allow its members to vote in political elections. However, this doesn’t seem to prevent them from placing political advertisements for the conservative politicians they happen to like.
It appears that the Brethren spent up big in the last federal election in support of John Howard. The Australian Election Commission is concerned that The Brethren didn’t correctly disclose its involvement in the campaign and has asked the Australian Federal Police to investigate. It is yet to be seen if the money trail will lead back to the Brethren or not.
