The Z-Machne is located at Albuquerque, New Mexico and is operated by Sandia National Laboratories. It is an X-ray generator used to amongst other things generate data to aid in computer modeling of nuclear weapons.
Some stats:
- It can supply 290 terawatts of power in one fast pulse.
- It releases 80 times the entire wold’s electrical power output for about 70 nanoseconds.
- It has produced plasmas with temperatures of up to 3.7 billion kelvin (6.6 billion F). This is the highest human-made temperature ever achieved.
