Italian Catholics to put dead man on display.
Italian Catholics are in the process of exhuming the body of Padre Pio to get it prepared to be put on display in a part-glass coffin for at least several months.
The body of the ex-Capuchin friar, is said to bear the stigmata; the wounds of Christ’s crucifixion.
The body is described as being in a “fair condition” for somebody who died in 1968.
Apparently a Catholic magazine found that more Italian Catholics prayed to this corpse than to any other icon of the faith, including the Virgin Mary or Jesus; wasn’t there something in the Bible about having “no gods but me”?
Rest in peace, indeed.
