"Vow of Fidelity" for teaching staff.
Catholic Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell wants principals and deputy principals of Catholic schools to publicly take a “Vow of Fidelity” The vow will also apply to religious education coordinators.
The vow will commit them to adhering to Catholic church teaching on homosexuality, birth control and women’s ordination.
It should be remembered that these Catholic schools receive public funding from both Federal and State governments.
Maybe school staff should be required to take a vow to uphold the values of a liberal democratic society before they are handed money from the public purse. Then we can see what they really believe, the power of the dollar or that of their god.
