Bad Astronomy Blog: God hates Mars
I just love this story which the Bad Astronomy team picked up about Rob Hood, a US commentator on The Conservative Voice.
Apparently Mr Hood ( don’t know if he rides through glens or not) thinks that all the money that the US is spending on the Mars Phoenix Lander is a complete and utter waste of taxpayer’s money!
Why? Because we know for a fact that life only exists on Earth, so why go looking on Mars to see if the conditions for life were ever present in it’s history.
His proof that life has only occurred on Earth, the Bible!
Well Mr Smarty-pants Hood, suppose the Martian word for Mars was Eden and humans were expelled from there for miss-behaving, and the great Spaghetti Monster in the sky in has wrath destroyed Mars, and moved the beer volcano somewhere else, wouldn’t that just prove that God in his wisdom is infinite and that you are just a small minded cretin?
For the more open minded who may from time to time read this guff, it may be of some note that it looks like the Mars Phoenix Lander has indeed found ice.
