If you don’t want to read the preamble you can just read Numbers 31. Key bits being 31:15 thorugh 31:54 where Moses orders the Israelites to kill all the captured Midianites male children and any women that has “known a man”;This of course after they had already killed all the adult males. They then get to divide up the “spoils” of war.
Apparently 32,000 Midianite virgins were divided up among the Israelites. Also Numbers 31:40 seems to imply that god required a human sacrifice of 32 of these.
