Australia to get first female Gee Gee
Today Quentin Bryce will be sworn in as the first female Governor General (G-G) of Australia.
For non-Australians the G-G is the Australian head-of-sate … well sort of. The G-G is head-of-state while the real head-of-state is out of the country. That being most of the time as the real head-of-state is the Queen of Australia … who also happens to be Queen of Great Britain, Queen of Canada and a bunch of other countries besides …. Look it’s like this … oh, forget it! It’s complicated OK!
