I hate philosophy

Philosophy for the most part has a lot in common with  theology; a lot of talk about nothing in particular. About as useful as collecting navel lint; mildly gratifying to the participants, next to bloody useless for everyday use.

“Do I exist” you ask, is simply resolved by me shooting you. If I get arrested for murder you did exist, if I don’t you didn’t. End of story, that’s all that matters.

“I think therefore I am” is supposed to be the ultimate test that I (you) alone exist. However, how do you know you actually think what you think you think, maybe it’s just me projecting what I think your going to think, or vice-versa, etc, etc, look there’s since nice blue navel lint. But at the end of who really gives a toss?

Now we get to the agnostic vs atheism bit.  Agnostics, you can look it up, sit on the fence they are waiting for  “something” so that they can make up their minds does the big g exist or not. Atheists on the other hand have the “belief” that no such information does exist. In fact I’d go further, they know that no such additional information will be forthcoming.

I don’t know how to express this but with every fiber of my being I know there is no God, there is nothing that can be presented to me to change that view point. This is a result of a life time of consideration, the existence of  God just doesn’t make sense. Such an entity would make a mockery of my existence as it would the evolution and achievements of mankind and all the other beings of existence. It can’t and isn’t.

The problem really is one of semantics (at least that is what I think, what do I know I’m a Math graduate). The question  “do you or do you not believe in god”, implies that there are only one out of two possibilities. Yes or No.  And that they both have equal weight. This is a lie, a fiction.

Why for instance isn’t the question “do you or do you not believe in the gigantic phlegm ball from the Cosmic Monkey”. If you can dream up, without proof, an  entity such as God, then anything is fair game.Where are the agnostics that say “I don’t know if the Thunderbird of creation exists or not”, “I don’t know if Zeus exists or not”, or even “I don’t know if we are a part of the Matrix or not”.

Because of social conditioning, ie, the society in which we have being brought up in, the question will always be  “Does God exist or not”, currently with the assumption that He does. Why is God a he? Well we actually know the answer to this god was created in patriarchal societies therefore had to be male, can’t have the blokes bowing down to women who they viewed as chattel.

And any way the introduction of God doesn’t solve any of the mysteries that supposedly keep our philosophers up at night. “Where do we come from” becomes “Where does god come from”, “What is our purpose” becomes “What is god’s purpose” and on and on we go. Why do people get comfort from this?

I could say to theists “Prove it” but why bother I know they can’t and I know they can’t accept that they can’t. I also now that most agnostics are just tying to be nice to their theist friends/family but deep down they to know that god doesn’t exist; I know this because I’ve been there, but I much prefer to be here.
