I’m actually serious now: email me sarahcroberts@gmail.com

I need links to the co-opting of marriage wikis and stuff.

Sorry Sarah, your in a no win situation, those nut jobs aren’t going to listen to reason. They will selectively pick bits from the Bible to back themselves up and ignore the bits that don’t.  Their also sticking to the New Testament which makes it difficult to ask them if they also support some of the really weird “rules” in the Old testament (ie why support some rules but not others).

However, a true reading of Galatians 5:19-21 would also imply that dancing is a sin as is drinking alcohol.

Hebrews 13:4 makes no case against gay marriage, in fact it says “Marriage is honourable in all” that would seem to imply that it is open to anyone (except whoremongers and adulterers and even in those cases it will be God that will judge not sanctimonious Christians). It’s also interesting to note that Hebrews 13:3 implies that God’s OK with slavery.

Ephesians 5:22-23 has nothing to do with who can marry whom it basically says that to honour God women (wives) must be subservient to their husbands.  The bit about the one flesh is actually from Matthew 19:4-6 which actually is a statement saying that divorce is not supported by God.
